New Manager for GUKPT
This was published 31-03-2011The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) has announced that it has hired a new tour manager for the 2011 season. Jeff Leigh, who has many years experience in the poker world, will be the new manager for GUKPT 2011 and he gave a recent media interview on the exciting and challenging task ahead of him. Leigh joins the tour after working for many years as the Senior Card Room Manager at Victoria Casino in London.
He said in the interview that he was exctited about his new job. “Despite my many years in poker and at the Vic, I am still enthusiastic,” he said.
“Russel Tamplin has done a fantastic job as director, and now as national poker manager – I want to build on what he’s done.”
Leigh said that while one person was needed to make the final decision, there are a lot of people “on the route”, including customers, dealers and staff with their own opinions and ideas who ultimately contribute to the process of the tour.
The next stop of the GUKPT is on April 24th in Walsall. The Main Event of the Walsall GUKPT stop will be held on April 29th, featuring a GBP 1,000 buy in at the Grosvenor Casino. The tour will also make stops in Dundee, Brighton, Plymouth and Bolton, before moving on to Southampton, Sheffield and Luton. The tour will round off in Coventry and Blackpool before the final event in London on November 21st, 2011 at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino.
Leigh was philopsophical about his new role. “Poker players are a certain breed,” he said. “It’s like being a football manager, you’re only as good as your last game. You’re only as good as your last decision.”
